Our Nursery at the Garden

Our Nursery ‘at the Garden’ is not a regular nursery.  As one of only a few nurseries in the country that sell exclusively South African plants, we are proud of the variety of plants we can offer to homeowners. Contrary to what the average opinion is, it is quite easy to fill a garden with only indigenous plants.  Be it a small or large garden, we can advise you which plants will do best in your specific area and microclimate.

We live in an era where it is essential to save on water and electricity.  By choosing your indigenous plants wisely, you can accomplish that as well as create a low maintenance garden.  It will result in a beautiful garden – not a moonscape with a few cacti!

One of our nursery’s main features is the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden in which we are situated.  A glimpse up in the blue sky will nearly always reward you with a sighting of the magnificent Black Eagles.  The waterfall can be seen through the feathery leaves of the Acacia caffra.  It is an everlasting joy to watch how the hillside surrounding the garden, keep changing together with the seasons.  Many trees that we sell grow naturally on the koppies and in the kloofs.  What a wonderful experience to examine them in their natural habitat.

The spectrum of plants that the nursery sells, encompass trees, shrubs, groundcovers, succulents, water plants, grasses, bulbs, plants for bonsai, climbing plants and hanging baskets.  We also sell pots, wall hangings, baskets, fertilizer and compost.

The Nursery ‘at the Garden’ has an excellent team who will be able to give advice, help you choose or take you for a quick walk in the Garden to identify something you have seen.  If you feel a bit puckish or thirsty after your walk, you can buy refreshments at the kiosk.

You are welcome to bring a sketch of your garden plus a few photographs to the nursery and Suzette or Tiekie will help you with a design for your garden.  If you rather need someone to come out to your house, we can arrange that at a small fee.
